Soraksan Hot Spring

Soraksan Hot Spring
Soraksan Hot SpringIf you had read my recent posts then you should know that I had put up three video clips for these posts. Two of them are about Christmas Parade In Perth of Australia. The third video clip is regarding Christmas Celebration In Portuguese Settlement in Malacca, Malaysia. I still have some Christmas festive video clips of other countries but since Christmas was over so I have to keep them for next coming Christmas.

After writing a few Christmas celebration posts, I am going to write about Korean stuff again. If without the post tittle, do you know what are the two photos of this post about ?

That is an outdoor hot spring at the foot of Mt. Sorak nearby Sokcho city of South Korea. The first photo is a full view and the second photo is a magnifying view of the hot spring. As you can see from the photos, there are many cars and a bus parking outside the compound of the hot spring. So, patrons just drop down from their vehicles and walk to the hot spring. Imagine that you soak yourself in the hot spring and feel the warm water bath in cold winter. It's so relaxing and enjoyable. Do you think so ?

Christmas Parade In Perth Australia 02

This is another video on Christmas parade in Perth, Australia 2002. If you had watched the video of my previous post then you should know that the crowd was so excited of watching the parade.

Actually I planned to visit Australia in early December. The travel agency kept on delaying the departure date. Finally, I flew to Australia in mid-December.

My trip to Australia was 7 days and 5 nights. The Christmas parade was held a few days before Christmas. So it's coincidence that I had the opportunity to watch this excellent parade.

Christmas Parade In Perth Australia 01

In conjunction with the Christmas festival, I post this video clip to share with you. This video clip is about Christmas parade in Perth, Australia.

I recorded this video in December 2002 when I went to Perth with my family. I was lucky to have the opportunity to witness this Christmas parade in Perth.

The parade was scheduled to start at 7 pm. The streets were flocked with crowd as early as 2 pm because early birds could have good view.

I still remembered that afternoon I bought some fast food and canned drinks for dinner. The parade was remarkable. Hopefully you enjoy watching this video.

Mt. Sorak 01

Mt. Sorak
Mt. SorakMt. Sorak is the third highest mountain in South Korea and located in Gangwon Province at the east coast of South Korea. It is a 4 hours drive from Seoul, the capital city of South Korea. The South Korean government established Mt. Sorak as a nature preservation area in 1965 and named it Mt. Sorak National Park. In 1982, UNESCO declared Mt. Sorak National Park as World Heritage of nature.

Autumn is the best time to visit Mt. Sorak. The beautiful mountain scenery with fantastic rock formation and colourful forests is really impressive. If you want to feel the cold winter breeze and white snow then you can visit Mt. Sorak during winter. Seokcho city is the nearest city to Mt. Sorak. It takes fifteen minutes drive from Seokcho city to Mt. Sorak. The most popular visited site of Mt. Sorak is the main entrance of Mt. Sorak National Park. The Giant Buddha statue and the Shinhung Temple are at the main entrance of Mt. Sorak National Park.

Arrive at the main entrance of Mt. Sorak National Park, you have to take a walk to the cable car station to take a cable car ride to the Gwongeumseong Fort. If you are fit enough then you can continue your journey by climbing up to one of the Mt. Sorak summit. There are mountain paths that lead you to the peak. The cable car is not operating in winter due to the windy weather. I went to Mt. Sorak in early December 2005. I was very lucky because of the fine weather so the cable car was accessible. Finally, I managed to reach to the top of Mt. Sorak.

South Korea Giant Buddha Statue

Giant Buddha Statue

The Giant Buddha statue is at the main entrance of Mt. Sorak National Park. The statue is built beside the Shinheungsa Temple at the slope of Mt. Sorak.

Korea has been divided into North and South Korea for over half a century. The Government of South Korea built this huge statue wishing that the separated nation can be united. So, the Giant Buddha statue is the symbol of unification for Korean. It is the largest sitting bronze statue in the world. The duration of construction took 11 years.

The Giant Buddha has a merciful smiling face which looks down at its visitors. Many people come here to pray for their wishes. You can do so by lighting candles and face the Buddha statue to make your wish. The candles are available from the shop nearby the temple. There are containers at the bottom of the statue for prayers to place the candles.

Korean Amethyst Bracelet

Amethyst Bracelet

Besides visiting ginseng center, amethyst factory is another destination which is included in the tour packages of most of the South Korea tourist agencies.

Chinese believe that amethyst is a symbol of fortune and prosperity. By wearing amethyst ornament, it will bring you good luck. This is something to do with "Feng Shui". To me the amethyst ornament is just an ornament. It's nothing to do with "Feng Shui".

Korean Ginseng Extract 02

Ginseng Extract

Preparing ginseng extract drink is very simple. Add one spoon (The spoon in the above photo) of ginseng extract to 100 ml of warm water and drink it. You can add more water to dilute the solution. Add some honey to sweeten the drink if you want.

Ginseng is a traditional herb which is able to enhance our health. If you search for ginseng by using the internet search engine, thousands of web directories regarding ginseng will display in front of your eyes at the monitor screen. You will find out how good the ginseng is after reading these articles. So, remember to buy some ginseng or ginseng products when you pay a visit to South Korea.

Korean Ginseng Extract 01

Ginseng Extract

South Korea is famous for ginseng. Ginseng extract is one of the ginseng products.

If you are traveling in South Korea with a tourist guide, the tourist guide sure will bring you to a ginseng center. Based on the brochures of few South Korea tourist agencies (M.Club Travel, Cosmojin Travel Service, Grace Travel and Mercury Travel.) which I have, visiting ginseng center is included in their tour schedule.

I think the reason is probably that South Korea Government wants the tourist agencies to promote the popularity of ginseng.
