Amsterdam La Place Restaurant


La Place Restaurant

After wandering around Kalverstraat, we dropped in La Place Restaurant to enjoy our dinner.

La Place Restaurant is located not far away from Munttoren Tower at the end of Kalverstraat in Amsterdam.

La Place Restaurant is a renowned restaurant chain in Netherlands. There are more than 250 outlets throughout Netherlands.

La Place is committed to offer extraordinary services to customers. They would like to make guests feel at home while dine at their restaurants.

Baguette Sandwich

We bought a baguette sandwich with tuna salad stuff. The sandwich was truly delicious because we were quite hungry after walking around Kalverstraat.

Tortilla Wraps

We also purchased two tortilla wraps. Tortilla is made with corn or wheat. Cheese, chicken, crispy bacon, lettuce leaves and avocado spread can be used as ingredients of tortilla wraps.

Espresso

Besides tortilla wraps and baguette sandwich, we were also savoring Netherlands espresso. The price of a cup of this Netherlands espresso is 2.10 Euro.

This was a stall at La Place Restaurant. It's not a fruit stall although there were many oranges. Actually it's a stall selling fresh fruit juice.

These two stalls were selling pizzas and sandwiches. Both stalls are self service stalls. A few buyers were waiting for the chef to bake pizzas.

This chef was busy preparing pizzas and sandwiches for customers. At first we intended to buy a pizza. We changed our mind because we were running out of time. So we bought two tortilla wraps and a baguette sandwich.

This chef was occupied with cooking food ordered by diners. As you can see from the photo, there were many cooking materials on the kitchen table. We didn't try the food of this stall because we don't want to wait.

Getting out from La Place Restaurant, we walked along Rokin and headed to Dam Square. The next post, I will write on Rokin of Amsterdam.

Amsterdam Museum


Amsterdam Museum

We passed by Amsterdam Museum when moving around Kalverstraat in Amsterdam.

We were not able to visit Amsterdam Museum because the museum was closed when we arrived there.

There are two entrances for Amsterdam Museum. This photo is one of museum entrances. It's at 92 of Kalverstraat.

The other entrance of Amsterdam Museum is at 27 Sint Luciensteeg. The door was close when this photo was snapped.

We couldn't enter into the museum and what we were able to do was shot some photos outside the museum.

This is the entrance of Civic Guard Gallery. It's free to visit Civic Guard Gallery. The gallery displays photos and sculptures of present and the old day celebrities of Amsterdam.

Artistic Carpet

This is the artistic carpet of Civic Guard Gallery. We were unwilling to step on the carpet because it's so beautiful.

There is a bookshop at Amsterdam Museum. Books, postcards, biographies, exhibition catalog, replica glassware as well as traveling & restaurant guide are available at the bookshop.

Amsterdam Museum opens all year round except on April 27 (Kings Day) and 25 December (Christmas). Opening hours are from 10 am to 5 pm.

You can take a train to Central Station and board a tram to Amsterdam Museum. If you prefer walking, you can walk to Dam Square and continue to the museum.

The admission fees of Amsterdam Museum are adults €11, children 5 - 18 €5 and children 0 - 4 free.

Amsterdam Kalverstraat Shopping Street

Kalverstraat is a must visit pedestrian shopping street in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Munttoren Tower

The length of Kalverstraat is about 750 meter. It starts from Dam Square and ends at Munttoren Tower.

There are only pedestrians walking along Kalverstraat. So, visitors can shop freely and cozily at Kalverstraat.

Kalverstraat is always flocked with visitors, include Amsterdam residents and tourists from all over the world.

Store for Brands offers space for promoting branded stuffs. The layout of the store will be aligned with the brand identity. Normally a campaign for a new brand will launch every two weeks.

De Slegte bookshop is on the right of Kalverstraat. It sells both new books and used books.

Mango is opposite of De Slegte Bookshop. It's an attire store which provides hats, bags, shoes, clothing, jewelries, sun glasses and leather goods.

In case you are traveling in Amsterdam, remember to drop by the vibrant Kalverstraat.

Most of the shops at Kalverstraat open 7 days a week. Business hours vary for every shop. Some shops start at 10 and others begin at 11 in the morning. The closing time is at 6 pm but it's at 9 pm on Thursday.

We passed by De Wallen when heading to Dam Square in Amsterdam.

De Wallen is a famous Red Light District in Amsterdam, capital city of Netherlands.

De Wallen is located not far away from Dam Square and Free Adam Coffeeshop at Oude Hoogstraat.

Amsterdam Dam Square

We walked to Dam Square after visiting Amsterdam Gassan Diamonds Headquarter.

Dam Square is a very renowned tourist attraction in Amsterdam, the capital city of Netherlands.

Dam Square is also an ideal meetup place for Amsterdam residents especially during holidays and weekends.

The magnificent building at the end of Dam Square is Dutch Royal Palace. Currently, the palace is turned into a museum for the public when the Dutch Royal Family not using it.

Recently, there was a "Silent Walk" around Dam Square. This event was organized for flight MH17 victims killed in the crash in eastern Ukraine.

Busker

Various activities are held at Dam Square every day. A busker was dress up as a warrior of the old times.

Diabolo

A group of youngsters were playing diabolo at Dam Square. I was surprised to see the Dutch playing diabolo.

Another busker showed case his capability at Dam Square. This scenario is truly common at Dam Square. Many buskers display their talent at Dam Square.

Dam Square Pigeons

In addition to humans, pigeons also like to flock at Dam Square. Amsterdam pigeons are not afraid of people around them. They are enjoying snack with the visitors of Dam Square.

Dutch National Monument

Dutch National Monument is opposite of Dutch Royal Palace. The monument was built to remember the casualties of World War II. A National Remembrance of the Dead Ceremony is held at the monument on 4 May every year.

Dutch Lion Sculpture

There are two white lion sculptures at both sides of National Monument. Information of these white lion sculptures is limited. After searching from internet, I only know that the two white lion sculptures are symbolizing Netherlands.

Amsterdam Trishaw

In case you are weary of walking, you can take a Dutch trishaw ride. I didn't see any tourist gets on the trishaw. No idea about the price of the trishaw ride.

Amsterdam Tram

A tram was passing by Dam Square when we were hanging out there. Tram is one of the transport which is often used by tourists and residents of Amsterdam.

Amsterdam Bicycle Lane

This path is especially for cyclists. Beware of not step into the bicycle paths. If not you will knock by bicycle and get hurt. Apart from the bicycle paths, you should be alert when crossing the tram tracks.

Madame Tussaud Museum

Madame Tussaud Museum is beside Dam Square. A group of people is queued outside the museum. Due to run out of time, we were unable to visit Madame Tussaud Museum.

Amsterdam Gassan Diamonds

This is the photo of Gassan Diamonds Dam Branch. It happens that this Gassan outlet is opposite Madame Tussaud Museum. Apart from diamonds, a wide range of cutting edge watches and jewelries are available at Gassan Diamonds Dam Branch.

Amsterdam De Bijenkorf

De Bijenkorf in English means beehive. It's the biggest department store in Amsterdam. The department store building is six floors high. Don't miss to shop in De Bijenkorf when you are visiting Amsterdam.

Dam Square NH Hotel

This is Dam Square NH Hotel. It's not the NH Hotel we stayed during our trip to Netherlands. We stayed in Schiphol NH Hotel which is not far away from Schipol Airport. As you can see from the above photo, NH Hotel is just behind of National Monument.
