Pahang Temerloh SJKC Khee Chee

SJKC Khee Chee is located in Temerloh Town. It's beside the Temerloh Sri Malaysia Hotel. The school was built along the Semantan river bank. The renowned Temerloh Sunday Market is just nearby.

My wife had been serving in SJKC Khee Chee in the early 80s. The present headmaster is Mr. Lai Teck Pin.

This is the photo of the 1982 6B class students and their teachers. The front row second from right is Mr. Lai Teck Pin. At that time, he was a young teacher in SJKC Khee Chee.

This photo was taken in 1985. If you had been studying in SJKC Khee Chee from 1982 to 1985, perhaps you were one of the lovable kids in the photo.

The Pahang Sweet Salak Fruit

The stuff in the above photo is the sweet salak. It is a type of fruit which can be found in Pahang but rarely seen in other places in Malaysia.

The size of the sweet salak is as big as an egg. The peel of the sweet salak is red-brown in colour. It looks like the snake skin which is covered with scales. There are many tiny burrs on the peel of the sweet salak. Be careful when peeling and cutting the fruit, in order to avoid being hurt.

The flesh of the sweet salak is yellowish. The unripe sweet salak is slightly sour in taste. The fruit is sweet and delicious when it's ripe.

Temerloh is famous for freshwater fishes. When you are in Temerloh, remember not to miss the opportunity to taste the delicacy freshwater fishes.

The fishes inside the container are the tilapia and the patin (silver catfish). They are still alive. Why not purchase one or two fish to reward yourself.

The chopping skill of this fish vendor was marvelous. Just a few chops and the job had been done. He was truly busy because he had too many customers.

I had lived in Temerloh for 4 years in the early 80s. At that time, I was responsible for purchasing household food. I went to Temerloh Sunday Market for marketing every Sunday morning.

The Temerloh Sunday Market is located along the river bank nearby the mouth of the Semantan River. It's truly crowded with visitors. The vendors start doing business in the early morning. The crowd will gradually reduce until noon.

Visiting the Temerloh Sunday Market is really a very good experience. The photo shown above is better than thousand words. The woman just sat on the ground with her child. The stuffs which she sold are including eggs, chilies, turmeric, lemon grasses, and dry tamarinds.

She sold her goods by putting them on a few old newspapers. It's as simple as that. Scale wasn't needed. It's replaced by can and plastic container. The Malaysian traditional countryside life style was revealed exhaustively.

The dry tamarind is an essential ingredient for preparing Malay delicacy. It's suitable for cooking delicious spicy and sour seafood.
