Sweet Memories In SJKC Yu Hua Kajang Selangor

SJKC Yu Hua

I had been serving as a temporary teacher in SJKC Yu Hua in Kajang before entering teacher training college.

Time really flies, now I had already retired. Teaching career is a tough nut to crack. Teachers have to feature out their duties smartly in order to overcome obstacles encountered.

Every now and then whenever I am enjoying satay, teaching life in SJKC Yu Hua will come to my mind. The time in SJKC Yu Hua was pretty sweet. My colleagues were nice and the students were obedient.

Try to guess which one is me in the above photo.

1Malaysia In The Mind Of Innocent Malaysian Children

Sharing is happiness

What is 1Malaysia in the mind of the innocent Malaysian children?

As a teacher of primary school for decades, that's nothing more than sharing happily.

We sit side by side and share out everything. Children poem describes the case. If the allocation is not fair, it will cause discontentment.

Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak must know the outcome of dissatisfaction among Malaysian because he is the advocate of 1Malaysia.

PPP President Kayveas Speaks Like Lady

President of People's Progressive Party, M Kayveas mentioned about the loyalty of Chinese community in his presidential speech during the 58th national congress of PPP recently.

In his speech, M Kayveas didn't explain in-depth on the issue of discontent among Chinese. It's understandable that why M Kayveas dares not to clarify clearly. Then it's better for him to shut up his mouth. Otherwise he will be regarded as a lady.

Malacca Carnival Another Proof Of 1Malaysia Injustice

Malacca Carnival

Malacca Carnival was held successfully by Sin Chew Daily on June 26. This festive had collected more than 120,000 ringgit for SJKC Pay Fong 2.

Malacca Carnival

The sponsors of Malacca Carnival are Tiger Beer, Celcom Axiata Berhad, Genting Malaysia Berhad and Magnum Corporation Sdn Bhd.

The response of Malacca Carnival was truly overwhelming. This is another evidence of 1Malaysia marginalized Chinese community. Otherwise Chinese do not have to raise fund for Chinese School. Barisan Nasional government should provide allocation for Chinese school without any absurd condition.

South Korea Seoul Hanok Winter Heating System

Korean Traditional Winter Heating System

South Korea is a country with four seasons. The temperature in winter is below zero and it's extremely cold. Nowadays, there is diversity of heaters from enormous to mini size. You don't have to worry you will be frozen during chilly winter.

How did Koreans get warm at home in winter during ancient times?

They didn't burn firewood in the living room as the westerners. They dug a hole beneath the wooden floor and burnt firewood to keep the building warm.

If you had visited Korean hanoks, perhaps aware of Korean traditional houses are low. The reason of building low hanoks was to preserve heat without burning too much of firewood.

Najib Should Be The Chinese School Termite Buster

Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak appeared on One FM Radio Station on June 23 to show that he is intimate to Chinese community.

There are tons of Chinese primary school buildings which are destroying by termites nationwide. Since Najib Razak is fond of close to Chinese, he should launch a project to eliminate termites in Chinese primary schools.

Najib Razak can invite President of MCA Dr Chua Soi Lek and President of Gerakan Dr Koh Tsu Koon to join him as well. If Najib Razak takes a photo of extinguishing termites in Chinese primary school, certainly he can get a lot of extra points from that.

As a matter of fact the best strategy of gaining support of Chinese is the implementation of justice policy. Any empty promise such as 1Malaysia won't work.

Chua Tee Yong Should Do Homework On Scholarship

Chua Tee Yong

Since the "rubbish pork" issue had been exposed by ntv7 "Trace File" program, Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Chua Tee Yong has become a newsmaker.

Based on China Press report, Chua Tee Yong said that those who are unwilling to serve for nation should not be offered government scholarship. Chua Tee Yong who is the son of MCA President Chua Soi Lek, too conceited to make slap happy statement.

Most of the Malaysian government scholars are from which ethnic group? That is not a secret. Chua Tee Yong should know that as fingertips. The injustice policy of BN government is the main obstacle deters Chinese scholars return to Malaysia from overseas.

As a government officer, Chua Tee Yong have to do some homework before expressing any comment.

Minister Of Tourism Dr Ng Yen Yen Flogs A Dead Horse

The episode of Malaysia Ministry of Tourism 1.8 million Facebook fan page is truly a good play and still ongoing.

Minister of Tourism Dr Ng Yen Yen who involved in this Malaysian farce had been urged to brief in the Cabinet. She claims that the Cabinet had accepted her explanation. Her Cabinet colleague Minister of Health Liow Tiong Lai believes the Facebook fan page issue is a political agenda of Pakatan Rakyat.

In fact Dr Ng Yen Yen doesn't understand the political scenario in Malaysia. As a Minister of Malaysia government, she should do more homework on formation of government which is mandated by Malaysian.

Any allocation which is related to people's hard earn money is public concern. At least, either the Cabinet or Dr Ng Yen Yen should provide the information of Impact Creations to clear public doubts.

Korean Traditional Lantern Cheongsachorong

Cheongsachorong

When you are visiting Korean traditional house in Seoul, you will see many lanterns hanging around the courtyard. These lanterns are red and blue in color.

The name of the red-blue lantern is cheongsachorong. It was displayed during festivals and reception of distinguished guests in the old times. The frame of cheongsachorong is made of iron or wood. The red color of the lampshade represents sky and the blue color symbolizes earth. Between red and blue means mankind.

Cheongsachorong was used as the symbol of G20 Seoul Summit which was held in Seoul last year. This shows that cheongsachorong is truly meaningful to Koreans.

Round Red Moon In Cheonggyecheon Night Sky

Red Moon

My wife and I took an Air Asia flight to Seoul South Korea during February. This night scene photo with big red moon was taken at Cheonggyecheon which is a popular tourist attraction in Seoul.

It happened that there was a round red moon in the night sky while we were strolling at Cheonggyecheon. Without any hesitation, I kept on pressing the shutter of my camera. The photos taken were not ideal because my photography technique is not so good.

This is the second time I saw moon in red color. The first time was in the Strait of Malacca when I was on the way to Singapore by boat.

Malaysia Tourism Facebook Fan Page Costs 1.8 Million

Facebook

The controversial Malaysia Minister of Tourism Dr Ng Yen Yen once again got into hot water. DAP Seremban Rasah Member of Parliament Anthony Loke alleges Dr Ng Yen Yen misused of public fund by hiring Impact Creations, an internet network company to setup Facebook fan page.

Facebook fan page service is free of charge but Malaysia Ministry of Tourism allocated 1.8 million for the free service. This is truly one of the 1Malaysia mockeries. It's understandable that Anthony Loke enjoys accusing Dr Ng Yen Yen. Since Dr Ng Yen Yen is in trouble, she has to flog a dead horse. Even Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin also urges her to clarify in Cabinet.

As they are not compromising and persisted with their views, the outcome must be very interesting!

Wo Lai Ye Dried Meat Excessive Level of Preservative

Dried Meat

Malaysia Minister of Health Liow Tiong Lai disclosed to media recently, the preservative levels of dried pork products of Wo Lai Ye (Kiew Brothers) was too high. Ministry of Health ordered the products to be pulled off shelves nationwide immediately.

Malaysia Ministry of Health is always being criticized for its inefficiency. The decisive action taken against Wo Lai Ye was truly out of expectation. This should be the critical effect of 308 political tsunami.

The incident of Wo Lai Ye dried pork food is just the tip of iceberg. Since Barisan Nasional government is people prioritized, Ministry of Health must ban all food which is harmful to consumers. Otherwise voters won't cast their votes for Barisan Nasional.

Whether Barisan Nasional wish to keep everything under carpet or let the people who have the right to decide the formation of government to know the truth, Barisan Nasional has to look out for itself in order to retain power.

Kimchi Earthen Jars In Courtyard Of Korean House

Earthen Jars

There are many earthen jars in the courtyard of traditional houses in Seoul Namsangol Hanok Village. These jars are for storing kimchi which is the favorite dish for Koreans.

Kimchi must be preserved at appropriate temperature in order to maintain its freshness and delicious taste. In the old times, kimchi had to be kept in different locations during different seasons. During warm summer, kimchi was placed in well or stream. On the other hand it was buried under ground during chilly winter.

Based on the information of Pulmuone Kimchi Museum which is located in COEX Mall in Seoul, in addition to vitamin A and C kimchi is also rich in minerals such as iron, calcium and phosphorus.

Door Couplets Of Traditional Korean House In Seoul

Door Couplet

Chinese used to stick spring couplets on doors during Chinese New Year in the old times. It turned out that Korean also liked to do so.

Door Couplet

These two photos were taken in Seoul Namsangol Hanok village. The doors of the traditional house were pasted with couplets. The first couplet means auspicious New Year and the second couplet is continuous joyous.

Chinese couplet is written with black ink on red paper. On the other hand Korean couplet is written with black ink on white paper. The reason is Chinese believe that red is propitious yet Koreans consider red is dangerous. No wonder I had never seen any Korean automobile red in color. However, the yin yang of South Korea flag is a combination of red and blue.

Korean Ancient Spinning Machine in Hanok Village

Ancient Spinning Machine

What is this stuff? May be you have seen it in your school text book illustration.

There are pretty many antiquity farming tools well preserved in Namsangol Hanok Village. This hand operated spinning machine is one of the tools. Is it same as the old times spinning machine in your country?

Korean farmers of ancient times generally lived a life of simplicity. Housewives not only had to work in farm, they had to handle with the trivial housework. In addition to that they managed to find time to spin yarn and weave cloth.

Korean farmers rest and take lunch at the arbor at noon. The harvested crops are placed at the arbor and later transfer to the collection center.

Farm Arbor

There are many handmade containers hanging on the wooden beam. These containers are made with hemp rope. Now the hemp rope has vanished in Malaysia. To my surprise I saw these hemp rope containers in Seoul.

The game is played by throwing the arrows into the ceramic cylinder in a specified distance. The team or person with the most arrows thrown into the cylinder will be the winner.

Nik Aziz Supports Mat Sabu As PAS Deputy President

Mohamad Sabu

Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat sustains Mohamad Sabu to be the Deputy President of PAS. He urges Mohamad Sabu to act as a bridge for PAS to interact with non-Muslims.

Mohamad Sabu won the party presidency with a majority of 21 votes in a three corners fight. He defeated vice-president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man who clinched 399 votes and incumbent Nasharudin Mat Isa who got 224 votes.

Although mainstream media campaigned for ulama candidates, Mohamad Sabu still managed to rejoice the triumph. The consequence evidently proven PAS has determined to burn the boats to march toward Putra Jaya.

From the main entrance of Hanok Village walk for a few steps, the unique Korean Cheonugak is on your left. Watching the crystal clear spring and listening to the patter of rain in Cheonugak is truly poetic.

During my visit to Hanok Village, the water surface of the small pond still frozen. The weather is fine at that time. Therefore I missed the crystal clear spring and the tapping sound of rain.

If boiling water for making tea as well as composing poems and couplets is available in Cheonugak that is pretty great.

Namsangol Hanok Village Quaint Traditional Buildings

Korean Hanok

There are five quaint traditional buildings in Seoul Namsangol Hanok Village.

1. Jaesil of Yun Taekyong in Jegidong
2. House of Queen Yun Sunjeonghyo in Ogindong
3. House of Dophyeonsu Lee Seugup in Samgakdong
4. House of Bumadowi Park Yonghyo in Gwanhundong
5. House of Owijang Kim Chunyoung in Samcheongdong

These houses were shifted and restored in Namsangol Hanok Village. Due to the shabby condition, the residence of Yun family was rebuilt in Namsangol Hanok Village.

Koreans will leave no stone unturned in preserving their cultural heritage. "Look East Policy" had been initiated by former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad since 1981. How it ended up? Well, it's incredibly interesting!
