Sungai Lembing Museum

After breakfast we proceeded to Sungai Lembing Museum to explore the history of Sungai Lembing.

Sungai Lembing Museum is under the administration of Museum Negara. The establishment of Sungai Lembing Museum was in memory of the underground tin mining in Sungai Lembing.


Sungai Lembing Museum

Sungai Lembing Museum is located on a hill slope and it's not far from Sungai Lembing town. You can walk to the museum from Sungai Lembing town. It only takes you a few minutes.

Pahang Consolidated Company Limited (PCCL), a tin mine company managed by British from 1906 to 1986. This company possessed the biggest and deepest underground tin mine in the world.

When getting into the museum as if returned to the old time of Sungai Lembing.

This was the entrance of the underground tin mine. The stuff at the outside of the entrance was the carriage for carrying tin ore.


Sungai Lembing Museum

Panning or dulang washing is the oldest method of tin mining. Normally female workers are involved in this field.

Based on the information shown on the bulletin board in the museum, government only issued permit for female workers to do dulang washing.

Beyond that, there are other methods of tin mining include dredging, open cast, gravel pump and underground tin mining.

Sungai Lembing Museum opens all year round except the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha.
