South Korea Suwon Hwaseong Haenggung


Hwaseong Haenggung

Hwaseong Haenggung is part of the Hwaseong Fortress which is located at Paldal-gu of Suwon, South Korea. Actually haenggung is the temporary palace of Korean emperors. So, Hwaseong Haenggung was a palace during the old times.

Hwaseong Fortress was designated as world cultural heritage by UNESCO in 1997. This world cultural heritage is the only remaining fortress with walls in South Korea. Nowadays Hwaseong Fortress is a hot destination of daily tour from Seoul.


Xinfenglou

Xinfenglou is the main entrance of Hwaseong Haenggung. Ancient emperors had to pass through Xinfenglou when entering or leaving Hwaseong Haenggung.

Watching the changing of the guard ceremony is available in front of Hwaseong Haenggung. Tourists are allowed to take photos with the guards.


Hwaseong Haenggung

Besides watching the changing of the guard ceremony, visitors can observe how the emperor moving from his residential inside Hwaseong Haenggung to Xinfenglou.

Dae Jang Geum

Hwaseong Haenggung was one of the shooting locations of Korean drama, Dae Jang Geum. In case you had watched Dae Jang Geum, you can visit Hwaseong Haenggung when you are traveling in South Korea.
